It's here, that wonderful time of the year is back, when you get cold, you put on your candy boots and you spend all your money on gifts for people who are not you. And you will tell me: “Well at least I spend it on people I love very much,” and if that is true, it is a lot to say considering that you suffer for months and months breaking your head to make them the perfect gift. Even with the perfect gift you always know you will receive a horrible gift surely without a receipt and it seems to be getting worse over the years. But well, you know, it's the thought that counts. Or at least that's what they say....
Now let's focus a little on what we wanted to discuss; let's leave aside the little subject of gifts that hurts so many feelings and move on to the lights that hurt our eyes.
Let's forget about the many jokes, let's focus. We bring you a super recommendation with which you that will surely get it right (not like with the gifts). From November 25 to January 1, Brussels will have the twenty-first edition (21 for the clueless) of the "Winter Wonders", a beautiful Christmas market that is certainly an experience.

It happens to be very close to our Hostel, in the Grand Place, where a sound and light show takes place, in which all the buildings of this fantastic square are decorated and illuminated with beautiful Christmas motifs to welcome you to this time of the year. In the center of the square, you can also admire the giant illuminated Christmas tree which is really quite impressive.

In addition to this blinding amount of light, we can also enjoy a host of different stalls where you can buy the most original gifts and the most delicious treats in different parts of the city. But not only that, this Christmas spirit (sometimes a little intense) extends to the rest of the city and spreads all its streets of light and color with other attractions and activities for all ages among which we highlight:

The Carousel at the Place Sainte-Catherine
A beautiful and old carousel decorated to detail. This is mostly enjoyed for those that like to spin around and get dizzy.
The ice rink in the Place de la Monnaie
If you decide to go ice skating be careful, it is very treacherous, and getting hurt at this time of year is a bit ugly.
The Ferris wheel of Marché aux Poissons
With lots and lots of turns. In Brussels, you can see that they really like the theme of spinning and lights and we know that from the top you can see a beautiful view of the whole city.

The great magic parade on the Grand Place, a Christmas parade that takes place every Saturday in December from 18:00 to 20:00.
Winter pop
During three weekends from December 2 to 18, a small community of trailers travels through different neighborhoods of the city where its participants carry out different creative activities for all audiences; workshops, shows, concerts, brass bands, dances...

What do you think? Sounds good, right? So unless you are the Grinch, you cannot miss this incredible Christmas market. But in case you are, you can always come and buy a gift for that annoying guy at the office who has been your Secret Santa.
Of course, taking advantage that our hostel is in the epicenter of Christmas, stay with us and enjoy the holidays in the best company, ours;)
